Boo the Ghost: Free Amigurumi Pattern
October 21st, 2017 | 24 Comments | by Nea
Hey guys! I’ve finished the pattern for Boo the Ghost!
I thought this would be a good pattern now that halloween is coming up. He’s pretty cute, if I do say so myself, rattling his (crochet) chains!
I don’t have a back story for Boo, I just had an idea I thought could work and it did, yay!
2018 update: I crocheted another Boo and thought I’d share him with you guys. As you can see Boo is equally cute without arms and his chains!
About the pattern
You can buy a bundle of two beautifully formatted PDF versions of this pattern on Etsy. One version uses color, while the other is made in black and white to be more printer friendly.

Size: 14cm tall & 9cm wide.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Notes: This pattern is written in English, US crochet terminology and SI units are used throughout. I use a smaller hook size than the yarn calls for to get tighter stitches. Boo is crocheted in continuous rounds. All measurements are approximate & will vary with your yarn & tension.

Please revise this pattern, it is very difficult to understand the increase and decrease parts.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Could you explain in what way you think those parts are difficult to understand?
I have added a simple how-to on reading my patterns here:
https://www.neacreates.com/about/reading-my-patterns
Awesome pattern! Easy to understand. Thank you!
Thank you! I’m so glad you like it!
Love your patterns thank you
That’s awesome, thank you! 😊
The bottom of my ghost kept bubbling out; any way to fix this? I’m thinking next time I’ll go down a hook size. Otherwise super cute!!
This is the difficult part of Boo I think, you could perhaps stuff it less? You could also try sewing the bottom to the sides of the toy all around, but I haven’t tried this myself so I don’t know how it would turn out. 😉
I agree with Gena, I increases are confusing, especially when you get to end. Calls for inc, then slip stitch but doesn’t tell you if you how to continue after ss. I know how to read patterns & have been doing it for many many years but this one stumbled me.
Would help if we new to repeat pattern from beginning increase, but I don’t think so because stitch count would be off
I’m glad I’m not the only one confused
That’s too bad. Can you tell me more specifically which part(s) i.e. which rows/rounds and/or instructions you find unclear? Where does it not tell you how to continue after a slip stitch for example? Did you read https://www.neacreates.com/about/reading-my-patterns/ to see if that would make it clearer?
Can i know how much yarn was used for this pattern?
Sorry, I didn’t measure that for this pattern so I don’t actually know. If you use a 100% cotton yarn like Adlibris Cotton 8/9 / Adlibris Cotton Aran I would guess that you’d need less than 75g/113m. Hopefully that helps a bit. 😊
I haven’t crocheted this adorable ghost yet, but, about to start. I’m not great at following patterns, (Sharon Ojala I understand) Reading through your pattern I know I will be able to follow with ease (after reading your instructions for abbr.) I know Gina wrote in 2017 saying she couldn’t understand but, I feel she could, no, Should have asked in a more polite way what she didn’t understand, not Order you to revise the pattern.
You are very kindly giving patterns for us, so people like Gena should be more appreciative.
THANK YOU, I appreciate your time & creativeness.
Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me this, it means a lot to me! ❤️🙏😊
hi please h3lp I and struggling to do row 29 to 32 do u perhaps have a video tutorial I can follow??
Hi! Sorry for the super late reply, what specific parts of the instructions are you struggling with? I unfortunately do not have any videos for my patterns yet. I would like to do them in the future but I just don’t have the time currently.
I just picked up crocheting again and have always been a beginner, never really finishing a pattern due to difficulties in reading and understanding it.
I just finished this cute little ghost and just need to sew in the arms. I thought your pattern was easy to follow despite others saying it was confusing.
Thank you so much! I’m so certain my daughter will love her new friend Boo.
Sorry for the late reply but thank you! That’s lovely to hear! 😊❤️🙏
I’m confused on Rd30. It does not add up to 64 sts when you complete this round. Help please.
Hi! That’s understandable but as you can see in R31 you work in the back loops of R29 so the scallops in R30 don’t actually change the number of stitches. It wouldn’t be valuable to add the number of stitches created by the scallops since we don’t work into those after they’re created. I hope this makes it clearer, good luck! 😊
I was only able to do row 30 13 times I don’t understand why.
Okay, did you make sure you had 64 stitches at the end of R29? 😊
Yes
never mind
